Tongyeong Hansan Battle Festival 2024 통영한산대첩축제

The Tongyeong Hansan Battle Festival, held annually in mid-August, commemorates Admiral Yi Sun-sin’s victory with historical reenactments, interactive activities, performances, and vibrant displays.

The Tongyeong Hansan Battle Festival, held annually in mid-August in Tongyeong, commemorates the great victory of the Battle of Hansan (1592), one of the most significant naval battles in Korean history. This festival honors the legacy of Admiral Yi Sun-sin with a variety of engaging activities and displays. Visitors can experience a reenactment of the battle, complete with dramatic scenes of the Joseon and Japanese fleets firing at each other. The festival also features a procession of Admiral Yi Sun-sin, traditional military inspections, and renditions of historical events. Character lanterns from Goyang, Jinju, and Tongyeong. Attendees can enjoy a water park, workshops, market, traditional drum performances, and sample Joseon naval cuisine. The festival includes hands-on activities such as the Geobukseon (Turtle Ship) Rowing Competition, Arrow-Shooting Experience, and more. Additional highlights include a Trot celebration performance and the 2024 Tonight Tongyeong fireworks display.
